Are these the 10 best strategy games for the Mac?

We ask because it’s not our list, but it comes from a very knowledgable source. Our friends over at Mac Gamer HQ have published their list of the 10 best strategy games for the Mac, and a couple of the choices dig effectively deep.

The titles are broken down by simulation and strategy, so your personal preferences can be easily accommodated. Mac Gamer HQ is also helpful in pointing out which titles are more likely to work on your system. Those with older Mac will want to skip right past XCOM 2, for example, but it’s worth noting that all of the games are fairly recent releases. One of our longtime favorites—Castles 2: Siege and Conquest—is nowhere to be found, but it’s a fair concession. Throwback titles would need their own list to draw fair comparisons.

Of course, many of you will have your suggestions, but that’s kind of the point. As Mac Gamer HQ states in the article:

Remember, the point with these Top 10 lists is to help you discover new games for your Mac. This is why you’ll notice different system requirements, price points, and mechanics. I’m sure one of the 10 best strategy games for Mac below will be perfect for you.

So, pick a new one and try it out.

Of course, what you really want to know is what games made the cut, and for that you’ll need to head on over to Mac Gamer HQ. Check out the whole article, as some “worthy alternatives” are also listed alongside the winners.

And hey, did you know there’s a worthy alternative to Civ VI? Neither did we!

Thanks for sharing Kirk, and I’m sorry Castles 2 didn’t make it to the top 10 😉

    • On the contrary…how sad it would be if a game from 1992 was still considered one of the 10 best strategy games available for Mac users?!
