WWE Champions squaring off in 2016 on iOS

WWE ChampionsThere’s not going to be a Summer Slam, it’s going to happen right now!

Or this year, anyway. Scopely announced earlier this week that they’ve entered into a new partnership with the WWE to publish a free to play mobile game: WWE Champions. You may know Scopely from The Walking Dead: Road to Survival or YAHTZEE With Buddies if you prefer your strategy games to involve more dice than dead people.

Developed by Kung Fu Factory, WWE Champions will allow players to collect more than 100 different Superstars and Legends to toss into the ring for “intense 3D action powered by fast and engaging puzzle play.” Whether those legends include the Red Rooster and recently deceased Iron Mike Sharpe, we’ll just have to wait and see.

The game is currently in test markets, and a full worldwide launch is expected later this year. We don’t have much to link to in the meantime, but you can check out Scopely’s other titles at scopely.com, and if you’re a diehard wrestling fan, What if Steamboat Beat Hogan? is arguably the most entertaining blog on the Internet.

is greatly looking forward to the day when he no longer cares about Apple, games, and gaming technology. But right now he does, and he loves to talk about them, just as he's been doing on the web since 1998. He can otherwise be spotted as that one guy in Ohio wearing a Minnesota North Stars hockey sweater. Kirk has a wife and three kids, and is a generally happy fellow.
